the cafe bar
About This Spot
Stepping into the cafe bar on Burnley Road feels like uncovering a quietly cherished local retreat, where the gentle rhythm of Mytholmroyd seeps in through the windows and settles around your shoulders like a familiar shawl. The setting strikes a balance between relaxed and refined, inviting guests to slow down and savor moments with stunning views of the surrounding hills just beyond the door.
Here, the pace is unhurried but lively enough to feel welcoming, making it an ideal spot to catch up with friends or enjoy a calm pause on your own. The warm, attentive service complements the inviting ambience—a place where conversations flow easily over thoughtfully prepared dishes that blend comfort with a touch of something unexpected.
The menu mirrors this thoughtful approach, offering everything from all-day breakfast delights to dishes that celebrate seasonal ingredients with subtle twists, like slow-roasted lamb enhanced by crumbled feta and pomegranate molasses or crispy, golden fish and chips cooked to perfection. Whether you're settling in with a robust coffee or unwinding over a cider or a carefully crafted martini, there is a comforting sincerity to the flavors and offerings that feels both familiar and refreshingly genuine.
Regulars and newcomers alike find the cafe bar a space that encourages lingering—whether you’re sharing a plate, raising a glass, or simply watching the world outside while the warmth of the interior wraps around you. It’s a quietly special corner of Hebden Bridge where local life and good food meet in a softly glowing harmony.

Been for lunch today. What a fabulous place. A good menu, we had the 'small fish and chips'. Beautifully cooked crispy batter, fresh fish and perfect golden 'proper chips. Generous portions, reasonably priced, friendly hosts and excellent service. We will be back.

Had assumed this was mainly a fish and chips restaurant, but inside is a smart cafe bar, serving soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers etc. We had the daily specials of fish pie and smoked haddock with a poached egg. Both were delicious. Good service and reasonably priced too!

Went in for a family lunch date, I tried the fish and chips and they were really good. The lady serving on was very attentive and friendly. Nice place for a catch up with family or friends.

It has become my fave cafe bar! The service is excellent, the food is soo good, the price are very good too!!! The most important part is that this place has the option for vegan, gluten-free free but you need to ask first, and is pet friendly! I deffo recommend this place if you are looking for a nice cafe, food and beautiful view of the church and the hills

Coming from Canada I was in search of some delicious proper English fish and chips. We found it, served with a smile. Highly recommend the experience
